Sarah Palin Unqualified For Office

20080905_nar_w37_127.jpg Following is one of the answers Sarah Palin gave to Katie Couric. It reads like a list of words given to her by her handler that she could not put in a coherent sentence. Could some in America really vote for a ticket with a person this ill informed?

QUOTE:

COURIC: OK.

Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with healthcare, housing, gas and groceries, allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy, instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

GOV. SARAH PALIN: That’s why I say, I, like every American I’m speaking with, we’re ill about this position that we have been put in, where it is the taxpayers looking to bailout. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—oh, it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So, healthcare reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we have—we’ve got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing, but one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today. We’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

Daily Kos: A refresher on McCain and the Keating 5

JohnMcCain02  This is a must read on McCain’s ethics.

QUOTE:

When it comes to having good judgment, John McCain certainly has had his lapses.  Whether it was his tremendous leadership during Hurricane Katrina or it is his flip flop and double talk with respect to his own campaign finances, or whether it is his pandering to the very people that he railed against and who sold him down the river a few years back or whether it is losing his temper to his own republican colleagues in the Senate, the list is long.

But the most notable is the background behind McCain’s “transformation” on campaign finance reform – his relationship with Charles Keating, his wife’s relationship with Keating, the financial entanglement between the McCains and Keating and the $2.3 billion that We the People paid to bailout Lincoln Savings & Loan as a result.

Comedy Central – John McCain’s Big Acceptance Speech

This is funny but illustrates that the Republican Party is really more of the same. No new ideas at all.

Palin: wrong woman, wrong message – Los Angeles Times

USA REPUBLICAN CONVENTIONQUOTE:

Here’s the good news: Women have become so politically powerful that even the anti-feminist right wing — the folks with a headlock on the Republican Party — are trying to appease the gender gap with a first-ever female vice president. We owe this to women — and to many men too — who have picketed, gone on hunger strikes or confronted violence at the polls so women can vote. We owe it to Shirley Chisholm, who first took the “white-male-only” sign off the White House, and to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who hung in there through ridicule and misogyny to win 18 million votes.

The Raw Story | Whistleblower breaks 15-year silence to allege McCain hid wife’s drug abuse

Quote:

Cindy McCain’s addiction to prescription painkillers emerged into public view 14 years ago with a well-orchestrated PR campaign designed to preserve her husband’s political future.
Aside from a lengthy contemporary investigation from Phoenix’s alternative weekly and occasional mentions since then, the addiction back-story — including ample questions about what John McCain knew, when he knew it and questions over whether he was complicit in the cover-up — has gone largely untold. Until now. CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING HERE.

John Ridley: Your Pocket Guide to Speaking Palin-guage (Vol. 1)

This article is a great article on the hypocrisy of the Right Wing and to some extent the main stream and conservative media, for whether they accept it or not, they shape the thought process of many Americans. The article is funny, sad, and unfortunately so true. That said, change is coming as old are slowly dying out and those resistant to change will eventually be marginalized.

Up in the Twin Cities area folks are speaking a new language. Or, should I say Palinguage. It sounds sorta familiar because it’s Latin based. But different from the plain English we’re used to speaking, in Palinguage recognizable words take on new meanings. Won’t you take a moment to learn some Plainguage so you can talk like a hypocritical conservative?

Obama Smacking McCain For the ‘Lipstick’ Phony Outrage

For those who thought Senator Barack Obama would be swiftboated by the Right Wing see his response to the ‘Lipstick” phony controversy. He actually used it to show the pettiness and immaturity of the McCain campaign.

CBS’s stereotypical subliminal message emerges in Obama vs McCain Tax plan description

It seems to me that the main stream media that is “in the tank” for Senator Barack Obama is trying to undermine him. It is understandable given Fox News’ stance that they would subliminally link Senator Obama with OJ Simpson (fear black men). What is shameful is the attempt to compare last weeks polls with this week’s polls showing a large surge. The adjustments made to these polls make no sense as their base criteria were changed.

The biggest undermining of the day has to be the CBS video above attempting to show the difference between Obama’s tax plan versus McCains. Moreover, CBS used a subliminal message in its description of the difference between Obama and McCain’s.

Three scenarios are presented. A family making less than $32,000. a family making  just under $64,000, and a small business owner who makes $213,000.

The first bothersome issue is making the family with the lowest income a black family who even though they did not pay income tax would receive a tax credit. While on the surface it should not matter, I am sure many at CBS have heard older white voters who have expressed their doubts about voting for Obama because of an irrational belief that as a black man he would have policies that only help blacks. The fact is as we all know there are many more whites and others in dire straits than the entire US black population. The impression left by the piece is that that family did not pay any taxes. Note that as a self-employed person he pays not just 7.5% in Social security and Medicare taxes that the average worker pay, but 15.5%+. So he is not getting a free ride but some relief.

The second issue is the family making $213,000 thousand a year. The piece gives the impression that their taxes would go up. This is lazy journalism. They needed to have found a person making over $250,000 to actually show someone who would have paid more taxes under Obama. Note in order for the more affluent family’s taxes to increase, they would have to be a bit more affluent. The reporter said  “If Gilbert’s business improves, his income could push him into the 33 percent bracket, which under Obama’s plan would jump to 36 percent of income“.  In other words oops, even a family whose income falls in the top 5% of all US incomes, would still not pay more taxes under Obama’s plan. Moreover, when one speaks of a new tax bracket it is the marginal increase that is taxed at the higher rate and not the entire income. In other words, if you make $260,000.00, only $10,000.00 is taxed at the higher rate.

Now the middle class is the largest group in the country. Realistically speaking, one can never expect big tax breaks for this group. It has never happened under any administration because the country cannot afford it. Middle class people should simply expect the government to work as efficiently as possible to keep us safe, keep interest rates low, maintain a good infrastructure, and create regulations for good health care and working rights.
