Sunday Talk: These colors don’t run

Exactly fifty years after the “Freedom Summer“—during which three civil rights workers were murdered by KKK members while registering black voters in Mississippithousands of African Americans escaped from the shackles of the Democrat [sic] party and helped Thad Cochran defeat Chris McDaniel.

It was quite a coup for Republicans.

Having exhausted the supply of angry white guys during the 2012 elections, in the ensuing years, the GOP and their 501(c)(4) allies devoted a great deal of resources towards reaching out to minorities—and it seemed that their efforts were finally bearing fruit.

You’d think that teabaggers—who’ve long sought to dispel the notion that they’re racist—would’ve welcomed this development.

But you’d be wrongdead wrong; instead, they raged against the dying of the white.

Apparently, some things never change.
